About Calou Stockholm

Calou Stockholm is a Swedish footwear brand founded in 2005 by Carina Ek Werderitsch. Rooted in the tradition of Swedish clogs and based in Stockholm, the brand creates modern clogs, boots and sandals where Scandinavian design meets everyday comfort.

What makes Calou unique is its soft, flexible, shock-absorbing sole, designed to provide a lighter and more comfortable feel than traditional wooden clogs. The result is footwear that combines classic craftsmanship with modern functionality and style.

All Calou shoes are designed in Stockholm and handcrafted in Italy and Portugal using carefully selected leather and high-quality materials, following traditional European shoemaking techniques.

Our Story

The idea for Calou Stockholm began when Carina was working in Italy on a jewellery collection. Sitting at her workbench wearing traditional Swedish clogs, she began thinking about how the classic clog could be reimagined using modern materials and techniques.

That thought became the starting point for Calou Stockholm - a brand that reinterprets the Swedish clog for modern everyday life, where tradition meets contemporary design.

Craft & Production

Calou’s collections are designed in Stockholm. Each pair of shoes is handcrafted in Europe, mainly in Italy and Portugal, using carefully selected leather and high-quality materials. The focus is on craftsmanship, comfort and timeless design - shoes created to be worn every day.
